The
Rhys (or elves) are the eldest of the races on the Achar.
Orginally,
there was one race of elves, the Turhys - the Immortal Elves.
They did not die of old age and had amazing control over magic
and energy.
Over
time, they lost the drive of the living. Fewer and fewer children
were born, and they realized they had come to a evolutionary deadend.
Zorn
the Ancient, the eldest of the Turhys, and his advisor Lord Fier
decided to jumpstart their evolution again. They gathered 1000
of the Turhys and had them all focus their magic on the idea of
'Change.'
They
created the Gnarrhys. The mindless energy mass they called the
Gnarrhys ravaged through the Turhys, killing and absorbing all
that the race was. Lord Fier was one of the first to die. The
Turhys had succeeded in Change, but it destroyed them.
Zorn
and eight of his children the only survivors of the 1000. Even
with their survival, they, too, had been changed. They aged extremely
slowly, but they would eventually die of old age.
Zorn's
eight children became the parents of the new races of elves. The
elves across the Achar had also changed, and became on of the
four races.
Shandra
and Cohl became the parents of the Shandrhys or Light Elves.
Dharrius
and Vagna became the parents of the Darrhys or Dark Elves.
Fedra
and Androse became the parents of the Fehrhys or Wood Elves.
Vahn
and Sessa became the parents of the Vahnrhys or Sea Elves.
Realizing
that their own descendents would not be able to bear the amount
of magic that would be required to battle the Gnarrhys and its
creatures, they turned to the humans and created the Imrhys.
